The Capodimonte porcelain is a symbol of Italy, famous and sought after all over the world by the most demanding collectors.
In mid-1700 the King Charles of Bourbon and his wife Maria Amalia of Saxony founded the Royal Factory of Capodimonte, the same name hilly area of Naples.
Many porcelain works produced by this historic company are kept in the most important Italian and foreign museums.
The history of porcelain in Europe begins in the XIII century thanks to Marco Polo's travels that during his visit to the region Fu-Chien observe the Chinese working mixtures at high temperature.
He described the product as "porcelain" that at his age he wanted to refer to the shell or mother of pearl, and this name remained until today.
Among the major exponents of Capodimonte artistic objects are Merli, Cappè and Tasca.
