It was 1895 when Bing & Grondahl decided to create the first decorative plate to celebrate Christmas.
The success was enormous and soon spread throughout the world.
Since then the collections of ornamental plates increased and one of the requests is dedicated to Mother.
High up in the Andes, the alpaca mother gazes across the snow-capped mountains.
Her soft alpaca baby walks by her side, following her closely through the snow.
The Bing & Grøndahl Mother’s Day plate has been issued every year since 1969.
The design, created by artist Allan Therkelsen, depicts motherly love in beautiful blue underglaze colours
